InnerCity Blues is a story about a young teenaged math wiz named Jimmy who decides to follow his dream in music and singing. Risking his chances of going to college on a full scholarship, Jimmy decides to enter a cash prize talent show in hopes to fund his career in music. Outside of a few roadblocks that slow down Jimmy’s hopes of winning, he realizes that he is far from a favorite when it is revealed whom he is up against.
